Valley of Fire - Just over 50 miles northeast from Las Vegas you can find Valley of Fire State Park. The main features of this oldest state park in Nevada are the red sandstone formations carved out of the Movaje Desert. Truly an unforgettable sight!
Attractions - Aside from the different sandstone formations in the park, you can find Indian petroglyphs in different areas. There are also two places where petrified logs are exposed to view. In an afternoon you can see quite a few features of the park.
Best Bet - Walking the Trails! Depending on the time you have available, several different hikes are available. Check in at the visitor center for information on lengths and routes.
Atlatl Rock - One of the most spectacular features in Valley of Fire State Park. A staircase leads up to ancient petroglyphs. If heights bother you, beware.
Mouse's Tank - Probably the most popular trail leads to Mouse's Tank, a shaded depression in which rainwater collects. Legend has it a renegade Indian used the area as a hideout.
Rainbow Vista - A spot where you can get some fabulous pictures of the different colors of Valley of Fire. You can check out some great pictures above to get a taste of the area!
